Mom's Cancer

The word "Cancer" can simply stop a human being dead in their tracks. My mother was diagonsed with Thyroid cancer last year and instead of it stopping her in her tracks, my mother found and inner strength of superhuman proportions. I honestly can tell you that the family looked to be suffering more from my mother's cancer than my mother herself. The power of the human spirit is a beautiful thing and my mother is a walking, living, and thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ, a cancer free ambassador of the human spirit overcoming anything. Just tonight she held up a picture of her before she went in for treatment and let me tell you, she is not the same person today that she was then. She embraced her condition as a challenge to become the person that she always wanted to be. My mother has devoted her life to her children and not ONE time put herself before her children. I tell you what that is a powerful message. As the middle and honestly the most needy of her children I have had a front row seat and, in some situations, been the main cause of the stress that my mother has endured over the years. Today the smile she carries on her face, the pride she has in her apperance, the confidence she has, and the Light she has back in her eyes is something that her children are so very proud to see in her life. My mother chose to FIGHT and I will tell you that for the first time in her life, she will tell you that she did this for her. I am so very proud of her and hope that her story can a be a testament to others on overcoming obstacles and life's curve balls. My mother did exactly what I used to do, she took that 0-2 curve ball and she parked it over the fence. You Go Girl!!!

Thank you son! I guess those many, many times at the ballpark watching my favorite shortstop play didn't hurt me huh? Seriously, I am proud that you and your sisters have noticed the change in me. The cancer taught me a lot of things but mostly that I needed to pull myself back into the will of God and allow him to take me where he wants me to be and I will tell you this....it's an amazing journey! I love you!
